Seriously, this is what I’m going to need at this point. If I can’t find that (or at least the roof) at a reasonable cost, I’ll part the thing out.

Damn, the windows part... that’s a tough one...

As far as finding a roof for a DS break, my guess is that it is almost impossible. Only thing you can really do is cut into all the rust once and for all, then evaluate how many new panels you need to remake and weld on.

Massive job for sure though...

Ouch, just looking at that hurts. I think your best shot is finding a crashed break, however I think if they crash nowadays they are worth enough money to repair them, so finding a solid roof for reasonable money will be hard I guess. Maybe someone is reproducing them?

However I do have another suggestion for you:

I mean you are an American after all, and this way you make a French car a bit more American, while keeping one on the road!

That looks nasty. Finding a donor might be hard but at least the window should cover up the imperfections in the patches. You could of course turn it into a panel van...

I cannot like this enough. If I can’t find the 2nd-half of a break that is in good shape, or a roof, I’m doing this. I haven’t pulled the front wings, yet, but that part of the car seems pretty solid.

If that décapotable is an original, it’s worth a quarter of a million or so.

Well the licenseplate comes up as being a 1967 Citroën DS21 Cabrio Usine, but since it came to the Netherlands in 1997 that doesn’t fully guarantee it to be one, since all the unofficial channels were open back then, though the chances of this being a real one are there. Also welcome to the Netherlands, where a homebuilt DS pick-up is admired equally to a décapotable.

There was a beat up but running Break (with working Hydraulics!) listed in the CA Bay Area not too long ago for something like $4000, might be cheaper to find another car and piece together one good one.

That’s possible. There is another 2000-euro “parts” Break around here, but my wife would chop me into small pieces. Plus, there is no guarantee it doesn’t have identical rust issues.

There is a DS group on FB that has been helping me out and has found me a replacement roof; one of the guys with a replacement roof is parting out his DS and may have a good rear chassis for me, too, which would be fantastic. I’m not holding my breath.

There is also the largest automotive swap meat in Belgium in Chiney (not Chimay) next weekend, which also has a car show. I may attend and hunt around.
